"Just celebrated my son’s 16th birthday here last night. Table of 13. Every single dish was outstanding. So fresh and tasty , I don’t know how the owners do it with just being the two of them all food came at the same time, service was amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough. "A party of 8 of us had dinner at La Grotta last night and thoroughly enjoyed our experience! None of us had been before. The food was all freshly-cooked and lovely with a good range of menu choices. Service was by one lady proprietor who, although single-handed, was excellent. cheerful and nice! We all had mains and desserts-2 of our party had steaks. We took our own wine and I’m sure there was no charge for corkage.. With a fair tip the bill came to £250 whichI feel was very reasonable given the food quality. Would strongly recommend and will certainly re-visit."

"Surprise dinner for the wife, 1st impression was a cosy, intimate dining area, ordered a bottle of Lugana(excellent) then cozze marinarna and calamari romana for starters(no photos as they were scoffed pronto) we both had the linguine fruitti di mare for mains(absolutely delicious and didn't scrimp on the seafood). Desserts were profiteroles and tarte di nonna and a limoncello each yo finish. We thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful and look forward to going back. Get involved, you won't be disappointed."

"Do not sleep on this place. Genuine Italian food in a cozy setting. The food was amazing. There was only one person serving who was running front of house and taking/serving orders. The place is quite small and unlike other places in portobello, is lacking the “bells & whistles” so you could easily miss it. As I told the lady who served us, “we will be back… & with friends”. Food 10/10. Service: one person on a Saturday night. Looked busy & stressed but still pleasant and attentive. Atmosphere: can feel cramped if busy but didn’t detract from experience too much."

"Had lunch there today with two friends. It was absolutely brilliant food and, at £14.99 for two courses, a brilliant price. Our starters included mussels in a tangy tomato sauce, prawn salad, and bruschetta. All generous portions and all delicious. For mains two of us had chicken breast in a creamy mushroom sauce while one opted for chicken breast with tomato sauce. All were served with chips and were both generous and delicious. Will definitely be back"
